Support for Robert and Katie Mullins

My name is Allison and I have created this fundraiser for my friends Robert and Katie Mullins. Early Monday morning (1/27), Robert woke up to vomiting and stomach pain, which led him to see his doctor. From there, he was sent to Roanoke Memorial and was admitted for pancreatitis. No one knew how quickly the next chain of events would unfold. He has experienced tremendous pain, breathing difficulties, and needed a procedure to place stents inside his bile duct and pancreas. Unfortunately, during all of this, things took a turn in the wrong direction. Currently, Robert is heavily sedated in the ICU. He is being supported by a ventilator to help ease his breathing so he can rest. His kidneys have also begun to show signs of failure, so today they have started him on continuous dialysis. The amazing staff at RMH are diligently working on Robert to give his body all of the support it needs to pull through this.

If you have ever had the privilege of knowing Robert, then you already know just how amazing he is. Robert doesn’t know a stranger, making friends with everyone he meets. He would quite literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I personally cannot count the number of times he and Katie have dropped everything to show up for my family and me. They are active in their communities and stay grounded in their church. Robert would absolutely hate that I am making this for them for the simple fact of not wanting to inconvenience others. But today I am asking for all of your help. Robert faces many challenges in the coming days and an even longer road to full recovery.

Katie and Robert have three beautiful children—Oliver (9), Theo (4), and Eleanor (2)—who need us more than ever. Katie has been so positive throughout this ordeal, truly an inspiration. As Robert is the main provider for their family, I am hoping to ease some of the financial burden that lies ahead. I hope by raising enough funds, Katie can stay by his side and focus on him and her kids. And that on the other side of this, they will not be left with piles of medical bills. All donations will go directly to Katie. If you cannot donate money, I ask that you please pray for Robert. Pray for Katie and her babies for strength in the days ahead. Pray for complete healing and a quick recovery.

Please share this as I want to show them just how big their community is and how many people out there have been touched by them. They don’t deserve to go through this, and I know their people won’t let them do it alone.
