Support and love for Rob & Sara

Donation protected
On February 16th, Rob was admitted to the hospital and was found to have a terminal diagnosis of Stage 4 pancreatic cancer that has metastasized to the lining of his abdomen. A serious complication required re-admission and has delayed the start of treatment.

With intensive chemotherapy, Rob’s life could be extended 6-8 months. This treatment could cause very unpleasant side effects, but our family’s hope is that he can sustain it and be with us as long as possible.

Rob is now unable to return to work, and Sara is doing all she can to work from his hospital room, but she will require time off as treatment moves forward. Happily, Rob’s daughter Leith has come from Chicago to spend as much time with her dad as possible.

Medical bills have already started to come in, and we don’t want Rob and Sara to have to worry about anything as they navigate this devastating journey. We’re hoping to be able to help them with unforeseen uncovered medical expenses and end of life care.

Many of you may know Rob from his Providence restaurant career. He spent time in kitchens at Mills Tavern, Raphael’s Bar Risto, RiRa, among others. The friendships made in those restaurants have spanned the test of time. Rob made a career change during Covid, obtained his stockbroker licenses, and is a proud employee at Fidelity Investments.

Rob and Sara are such loving, generous souls, now it’s their turn to step back and be on the receiving end of the love and generosity of others as this will consume their lives. Sara has a way about her that draws people to her and makes them want to be her friend. She is so generous and loving to her family, friends, and even strangers. She goes out of her way to bring joy to people’s lives. Rob has the kindest, purest heart that those of us closest to him are so lucky to see. He is so funny, and you can usually find Rob and Sara laughing together. Their love for each other is deep, steady, and strong. Although this tragedy is breaking their hearts, they are being so unbelievably strong for each other. They fell in love 20 years ago after meeting at the “old Murphy’s”, and spent their 15th wedding anniversary this past spring in the Scottish Highlands. Their 16th anniversary is on May 25th, and we hope they’ll be able to enjoy a celebration, albeit a little closer to home.

Leith’s staying with Rob and Sara while they battle this as a family, and nothing brings Rob more joy than having the two women he loves more than anything by his side. Leith’s courage and love for her father is giving him peace.

If you are able, would you consider donating any amount to help them through the next few very difficult months, or please share this post? Your generosity would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! ❤️

Please contact Rosemary if you’d like to coordinate meals or groceries, we’ve heard from so many of you who want to bring them comfort. Our family is so grateful for all of your love and support!
