My brother Nathaniel and his wife Allison are walking through a very difficult time. Together they have 5 beautiful children.

Their daughter, Rivka, has been in the NICU since January 28th, and has been diagnosed with Cri du Chat syndrome (5p-, meaning a portion of chromosome 5 is missing). Her condition is severe, and they are doing everything they can to be present with her now and prepare for the level of care she will need when she comes home.

They are facing some difficult unknowns. They do not yet know what Rivka’s life will look like when she comes home, whether she will need a feeding tube and/or oxygen support, or if her time here will be very short and they will only be able to bring her home to be loved and cared for in a comfort capacity.

In addition, their family has been hit with unexpected financial challenges. Nathaniel lost his job as the company he was with decided to cut many of their contractors. Allison has been a stay-at-home mom.

Now, with Rivka in the NICU and four children at home, they are now unable to financially provide for their basic necessities and are facing potentially losing their home.

The goal is to be able to assist in providing for their basic living expenses for the next 4-5 months as they transition into learning how to care for Rivka at home and learn what her medical needs and routines will be. This fundraiser is to help cover this critical window of time.

They are not looking for long-term support, just the ability to stay stable during this intense and fragile time for their family.
