On April 25, 2023, while beginning his normal workday, Rick Martin suffered from a hemorrhagic stroke, although they would not diagnose that until 13 hours later. Initially they called it vertigo as this type of stroke is hard to detect. It wasn’t until the next day when they had to emergently treat the brain swelling that we began to understand the seriousness of the situation. Rick has been through intubation with sedation, External ventricular drain (EVD) with Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, and a craniotomy to name a few of the major treatments that he has endured. It has been two weeks since the start of this long journey to Rick's recovery and we are still dealing with some major medical issues like blood clots and infection that compound the rehab for the stroke. We do praise God for the progress that Rick has made so far, but the doctors have told us that this type of stroke has a long healing process. The full severity of this stroke and it's impact on Rick's daily life will not be completely known until six months from now.

We know that God loves and cares for Rick and we are resting on His mercies to bring Rick to complete healing. In the meantime, this is an unexpected life changing event for Rick and his family.

As many of you know, Rick is a self employed plumber by trade, but he has a "masters of service" degree in everything he does. His focus has not been on success as the world would define it, but on using his gifts to meet the needs of others. Whether it was in plumbing, Cadets, church service, helping family and friends or in the kitchen (or at the grill). He has a heart of work and service.

We know that Rick has a lot of love and prayers being offered on his behalf to our heavenly Father, and we THANK YOU all for them. We also know that God’s will and purpose for Rick is still in His hands, so your continued prayers are appreciated.
