Support for Rich Costa

This fundraiser is on behalf of Rich Costa and the Costa family. On Thursday, Jan. 5th, Rich suffered a medical emergency while playing soccer with friends. He is currently in the hospital getting the best care possible, surrounded by family. A beloved member of the community, Rich has been a soccer coach and educator making an impact on hundreds of local Morris County families.

The funds raised will help cover medical expenses and loss of income throughout the recovery process. Thank you for your generosity and support, and please keep both Rich and the Costa family in your thoughts and prayers.

UPDATE 1/9/23 from Matt Costa (Rich's brother)

Today Rich made huge gains. He was able to come off the ventilator (pulled his own tube) and managed to stay off the ventilator on nasal oxygen today. All of his labs are normalizing and he is in good spirits still trying to put together what has happened to him. As you can imagine this is very emotional for him as well as his family. His long-term memory seems very much intact and his short-term memory - with the recent events remains a little foggy but is improving. He enjoys visitation from family and friends and has been downgraded from intensive care to step down.

The outpouring of love for my brother has been overwhelming. He has been reading cards that have been handmade by the children he has coached and he is able to recall their names and who they are.

On behalf of my brother, I'd like to thank everybody for all the notes of encouragement calls and texts. I've been trying to keep up with all of you. All of Rich's improvements have been a true miracle for us. Like so many people who have suffered a cardiac arrest, the future is very unpredictable. In Richard's case he has truly beat the odds with the help of officer Anthony LaManna from Mount Olive Township, his fantastic use of CPR and an AED.

Rich does have some hurdles to overcome but we are optimistic about his recovery. Please keep those prayers and good wishes coming.
