I have started this fundraising page to help support my brother, Renel Millama, & his family. Renel is a dedicated & loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. All those who know him will agree that this guy has a pure heart. Can be too nice at times! He loves spending time with family. During this pandemic, since our bubbles have been limited, he has been the one who always keeps the family together, almost never wanting us to separate!
October 9, 2020 – a simple family visit turned in to a tragic & an unimaginable night. He fell from his home’s basement stairs & suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. His injuries include a fractured skull, bleeding (subdural hematoma), & swelling of the brain. The bleeding was initially treated with a drain, but his intracranial pressure was fluctuating (more highs than lows) and so craniotomy had to be performed. He was put in a medically induced coma to allow his brain to rest, and prevent more swelling. As of October 19th, this induced coma was reversed, however, he remains unconscious, and there’s still swelling in the brain. He is still in the Intensive Care Unit at the Regina General Hospital.
While we all know that the physical fractures will heal, his brain injury is still a huge question mark at this point.
This is an extremely difficult time for all of us, especially for his wife, Analyn, who had to take a leave from work to care for him, and their daughter Kylle, 10, who finds it difficult to cope after this traumatic event.
We are grateful for living in a place where basic health care expenses such as hospital bills are covered, but as you know, life expenses and other bills do not just stop.
The donations from this page will be put towards supporting Renel and his family in order to pay for other living expenses, as well as to create a savings for their uncertain future. Any amount will help ease the financial stress that his family will experience when he regains consciousness and throughout the rest of his life. If you are unable to donate, sharing the GoFundMe link with your friends and family is greatly appreciated.
We have a long road ahead, but with your prayers and support, we know we will get through this. Thank you so much!
