Remberto Hernandez is the heart of our family—always the funniest person in the room, humble, and deeply devoted to those he loves. He and his brother, my father-in-law, share a bond that brings endless laughter to our gatherings. Remberto’s warmth and spirit have touched everyone who knows him, making this difficult time even harder for all of us.

Remberto has been fighting cancer since 2022, starting with colon cancer and then, more recently, liver cancer. In September, he was hospitalized with jaundice, and complications quickly followed: a stomach infection, surgery, and then a return to the hospital for severe headaches. Doctors discovered a tumor in his head surrounded by a blood clot, and after surgery, he struggled to breathe on his own. He was then diagnosed with throat cancer, and we learned the cancer has metastasized. Remberto is now in the ICU with a tracheostomy and pneumonia, and doctors have told us he is terminal. We do not know how much time we have left with him.

His wife has been by his side every day, devastated by how quickly things have changed. Together, they run a pool cleaning business, but she has had to step away to care for Remberto, and their finances are rapidly declining. The costs of medical care and daily living are overwhelming. Any support will help ease the burden on Remberto’s family during this vulnerable time.
