Supporting Refugees coming to the Valley by OVC
Donation protected
Hello beautiful community!
You may or may not have been following our social media for the last little while, if you have you would have learned that we have decided to sponsor the arrival of several refugees from Ukraine to Renfrew/Arnprior areas.
We have offered to lodge some of the refugees in our apartment above the cafe. Thankfully we have had members of the community and customers offer to lodge families as well.
This week Renfrew will be welcoming the first two refugees. They will be welcomed by one of our beautiful customers, Sandy.
The purpose of this go fund me is to develop a bit of a fund that we can use to help these families once they arrive. Whether that be for groceries, medical bills/prescriptions, clothing, shoes/boots, bicycles to get around during the summer, hygiene products, etc. Essentially a bit of a financial safety net for the families that are helping lodge and also for the refugee families themselves. We don't want anyone to have to be burdened financially for doing an extremely generous thing by taking in these families in need.
Some of you may not be in a position to help financially. That's OK! Please reach out if you are able to provide other items that may be needed other than a financial donation. One thing that is invaluable is your time. Inviting the newcomers to a coffee, taking them to a movie, grabbing some groceries with them, going for a walk, learning about their culture, All of these are important things that contribute to welcoming them life, providing a social life and will have a positive impact on their mental health.
We sincerely hope that these people choose to settle long term here in the Valley and become families within our communities forever!
Please contact us on Instagram, Facebook or by email ([email redacted]) if you have any questions or queries.
Let's show Ukraine what the Valley has to offer!
