Support for Recovery: Help Overcome Medical Challenges
Donation protected
I want to start by thanking everyone who contributed the first time. Never would I have thought 8 months later I would still need the help and support of my friends and family.
As many of you know, in September 2024, my life drastically changed when I was admitted to Grand Strand Hospital for a skin infection in my leg called cellulitis. While I was unconscious for over a month, I developed bed sores on my lower back and lost feeling and movement in my left leg, leaving me bed restricted. The medical team there had to put a trach in me so I could properly breathe.
After spending three months at Grand Strand, I was transferred to AMG Specialty Hospital in Mount Pleasant in January 2025. It has been a long and lonely five months here as I have been trying to regain my strength. I have had to go under for surgery 20 times and as a result, now have nerve damage from one of those surgeries which has caused me to no longer have feeling or movement in my left leg. My wounds are far from healed but I have been pushing myself to use a walker for short periods of time with the help of my medical care team. My feeding tube was recently removed, leaving me with an open wound in my stomach which is very painful. And I still have the trach in while medical professionals are still working on a plan to remove it without causing further harm or even worse, death.
My goal is to get in an acute rehab facility but I have to have a 15% co-pay which will end up being a minimum of $20,000. Without being able to work, it has been hard to keep up with my personal and medical bills, let alone cover this next expense. I would like to think of myself as someone who would help anyone, and hate having to be one to ask for help but any contribution toward getting my life back would be greatly appreciated and truly never forgotten. Thank you all for your continued prayers and support these last 8 months.
