On November 13, 2025, our daughter Rebecca Carter was riding her bicycle in the evening when she was struck by a truck in a hit and run accident. The driver left the scene, leaving Rebecca critically injured on the side of the road. The impact threw her over 60 feet, and she was rushed to USA Health University Hospital in Mobile, Alabama, where she immediately underwent emergency surgery. Rebecca’s injuries are extensive: she suffered a brain bleed, swelling and nerve damage to her brain, a dislocated shoulder blade, six broken ribs, severe abdominal bleeding, major bleeds in her intestines, and had to have her spleen removed. She also has seven broken vertebrae in her lower back, a broken right hip, and both lungs were punctured and badly damaged. She remains on a ventilator, and after seven days in the hospital, she has developed a serious pneumonia called pseudomonas.

Rebecca’s recovery will be long and difficult. She has no insurance, and the medical bills are already overwhelming. My husband and I live in middle Tennessee, but we have been by her side every day, staying in a local hotel to be close to the hospital. Her dad has had to return to Tennessee for work and will travel back and forth on weekends, while I remain in Mobile to support Rebecca.

We know first hand how hard times are for everyone right now, but every penny helps and adds up. We are so grateful for your prayers, support, and for keeping Rebecca in your thoughts.
