Friends and Family,
As many of you may know on October 20th, Ray injured several vertebrae in his neck. He underwent stabilizing surgery on October 22nd. Due to complications after surgery Ray now has a spinal cord injury and is currently paralyzed from the chest down. He is preparing to begin his rehab at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia.
Debbie and Ray have always been very involved with giving. When Ray’s children were young, he often coached at Saint John the Beloved (SJB) as well as the Y.M.C.A. He also volunteered for many years with the church carnival and athletics association. Debbie was involved with bingo, parish life, and the carnival at SJB. Many years later his parents returned home due to illness and Ray and Debbie were able to transform their first-floor living room into a bedroom with an accessible bathroom for them. This experience inspired Debbie to dedicate her time to providing home care assistance to seniors through Cornerstone and Home Instead. She realized how important it is for families to be together during the healing process. The knowledge she has learned from those experiences will help her and Ray as they move ahead into the future.
While the family is in the process of creating a sustainable financial plan through Workman’s Compensation and insurance, it is a long process and will not provide an immediate solution. In the meantime, your support will allow Ray and his family to focus on getting the best care and help them to prepare for Ray’s homecoming. Funds will help with personal bills such as mortgage, utilities, and additional monthly expenses.
