Support for Ranjeet and Family

I am Shalaka. My husband's name is Ranjeet Kumar and we have 2 daughters (8/12 Years). Last year my husband had a brain stroke that left him partially paralyzed. This tragic situation has changed our life. With God's grace, after a long fight, he survived but got paralyzed on his right side. As of now, he is bed ridden.

Initially his employer supported us, and insurance took care of the medical needs. However, after 10 months he is no longer on the company’s payroll. The company is still holding/supporting his visa on humanitarian grounds. As a result, his company provided medical insurance has stopped. He is still undergoing therapy, but recovery is very slow and needs long term continuous medical and therapeutic support.

He was the only earning member in my family. At present the only little financial support we have is his long-term disability that is not enough to take care of his ongoing medical expenses and living expenses for family. We tried our best for one year to somehow manage on our own but now circumstances are overwhelming. Initially I was very hesitant and didn’t want to bother anyone with my issues. However, it is a time where I am reaching out to wider community, friends for help
