My son Ralphie was about to start a new job after being laid off last winter from his fencing work. Just as things were looking up, he suddenly lost feeling on his right side and had to be rushed to the hospital. He's been there for two days now, undergoing tests, and still can't use his right hand. The doctors are still trying to figure out what's wrong, and it's been a scary and uncertain time for both of us.

Ralphie doesn't have insurance right now, and with him in the hospital, he has no income coming in. He's at risk of losing his place to live and his car, which he needs for work. As his parent, I've always tried to help him, but I'm retired and just getting by myself. I've reached the point where I can't do it alone anymore.
