"We can't go over it. We can't go under it. Oh no! We're just going to have to go through it!"
This is a line from sweet Hannah's favorite bed time story, "We're Going on a Bear Hunt". Except this time they are going on a cancer fight.
This summer, after all that 2020 has had to offer, Rachel started having some pain and her doctors found a mass in her abdomen. During surgery it was found that the mass contained cancer and she was diagnosed with Stage 2 Ovarian Cancer. She began 6 rounds of chemotherapy this Fall and has been battling cancer like a champion. After chemotherapy, she will have radiation ending around April.

While this road is long and hard, we are SO GRATEFUL that it was caught early and her long term prognosis is hopeful. She has spent most of October and November on Whidbey Island at her mom's house so Buffy can help support Rachel and care for Hannah. (open abdominal surgery has a LONG recovery time!). Nate had been in Seattle during the week so he can work and heading to Whidbey on the weekends. They recently all moved back down to Seattle to keep their quarantine bubble small as COVID flares.
As we have all experienced this year, the gifts of COVID and 2020 keep on giving, and continue to make supporting Rachel, Nate & Hannah very difficult. Many people have been asking how to help support their family, so we wanted to create this GoFundMe to offer everyone a place to direct funds until we are able to better support them in person. Funds will go to support chemo and surgery bills, loss of income, gas & ferry rides to Whidbey for childcare support, and meals on chemo days, etc.

Please feel free to reach out to Nate or Sarah with any questions on how else you may be able to help!
