Over the past days, my significant other Rachel has been in the hospital, and we’re still waiting for answers about her condition and why she hasn’t improved. It’s been a difficult and uncertain time for our family.
At home, we also care for her 84-year-old uncle, Fred, who requires full-time, around-the-clock care and is on oxygen continuously. Although he is a U.S. Army veteran, he does not currently qualify for assistance programs, so all of his care expenses are paid out of pocket.
Rachel owns a cleaning business and is currently unable to work due to her hospitalization. She has been our primary source of income, while I stay home to care for Fred full-time. With this unexpected situation, we’ve started to fall behind on bills that we’ve always worked hard to keep current, all while continuing to support our daughter through college.
Right now, we’re focused on covering essential expenses—utilities, groceries (including specialized dietary needs), uncovered medical costs for Fred, and transportation to and from the hospital. Any support helps us stay afloat during this time and allows us to focus on Rachel’s recovery and maintaining care at home.
I also want to add that I’m actively looking for work opportunities in the San Bernardino area. I have an extensive background in construction and customer service, I am ready to take on any available work. We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to read our story. Your support—whether through kind words, prayers, or sharing this—means more to us than we can express.
