Support for Quinn

As we sadly know first hand the continued financial loss when being with a sick child a few weeks ago a long time friend Rod Gibson unfortunately experienced it first hand when his youngest child, his only son Quinn got sick.

Rod’s post
Just letting those who havent heard know ( sorry those just finding out, I've only spoken to a handfull of family ), my son Quinn is in surgery today to remove a tumor from the right side of his brain.

He started having some seizure type episodes a month ago, and late last week (and after numerous ER visits) we got a scan back showing the abnormality.

He's been a trooper since the 2nd day, his first day here he had a poor reaction to some seizure meds and it was tough, but they switched the meds and by the middle of that 2nd day, he was much better.

Not long after, he wanted the surgery done and overwith so he could get back to his normal life. The ice hockey, ball hockey, his family and friends he enjoys so much.

Medically, we don't know if it's cancer and wont until later, after todays surgery; as well as if further procedures are needed.

The people and facilities have been great here at the BC childrens hospital, and thanks especially to Josh and Christine, old pros here at the hospital, who helped immensely break us in and their kids have definitely lifted Quinns spirits.

I will update later. Any kind thoughts for my boy would be appreciated.

Update on young Quinn:

(Taken from Quinn’s mother Jackie)

Just spoke with Children's Hospital, they are recommending that Quinn's treatment take place in Seattle for 6 weeks of monday through friday radiation therapy.
The planning has begun and is still in the early stages but will move quite quickly next week.

For anyone I haven't told directly, the type of tumor Quinn had removed was an atypical meningioma which is rare in children. Hes still doing well at the moment but has a long few months ahead.
