Last year, my daughter made a big move across the country to California to pursue her passion for public service. She has always been dedicated to helping others and making a difference in her community. Like many who relocate for work, she invested her savings into making the move and getting settled, hoping to build a stable future in her new home.

Since October 2025, federal employees like my daughter have faced repeated government shutdowns. Each shutdown brings a wave of financial uncertainty, and with another now underway, she is facing weeks without a paycheck. The stress of not knowing when her next paycheck will come has made it difficult for her to plan for even the most basic needs. Short-term loans and credit options are not a viable solution because the length of the shutdown is uncertain, and taking on debt during an already tight situation could create more risk.

During these shutdowns, my daughter is required to continue working without pay, which limits her ability to seek alternate employment or supplemental income. Despite these challenges, she enjoys her job and is committed to her role, hoping to remain in public service after the current shutdown ends.

This fundraiser is meant to help cover her essential living expenses—rent, utilities, groceries—during this temporary period until her pay resumes.
