Our family is heartbroken to share that John Goeken passed away suddenly in a tragic accident on May 2, 2026.

John was a devoted father to his two young children and a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He proudly served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, completing three deployments across two wars and earning two Purple Hearts. After his honorable discharge, he continued pursuing his dream of becoming an engineer and was accepted into the electrical engineering program at the University of Illinois. He was expected to graduate in Spring 2027. He was just weeks from his 40th birthday.

He was deeply committed to his family and their future, and always showed up for the people in his life in quiet, steady ways. Phoebe Mbuvi and the children are now facing an unimaginable loss.

This fund will help with childcare and the children's educational needs, so they can continue to be supported and cared for in the way he would have wanted.
