Our beloved Molly has been my receptionist for over 20 years. She is the kind of person who shows up for everyone, rarely taking time off, always steady, always dependable. Molly’s daughter, Peyton, is a vibrant 16 year old who has been living in constant pain and distress for the past 5 months due to recurrent pancreatitis, ruptured pseudocyst, and an episode of internal bleeding that required emergency surgery. Although she has already undergone several major procedures, her medical team anticipates that she will need at least six more months of intensive, highly specialized care. Much of this care may require transfer to California for a higher level of care, adding significant travel and lodging costs on top of ongoing medical expenses.

Molly is now facing the unimaginable on the heels of my retirement. She has been unable to work for nearly five months, all the while steadfastly remaining at her daughter’s bedside, advocating for her care, and navigating a rapidly growing financial burden at the same time. The time away from work, the travel required for out of area treatment, and the mounting medical related expenses have placed her in a level of distress no parent should have to face while fighting for their child’s life.

This fundraiser is intended to support Molly and Peyton during this long and uncertain medical journey. All proceeds will help cover lost income, travel costs, and the essential expenses that allow Molly to stay with her daughter through every step of her treatment, impending surgeries, and hopeful recovery. Any contribution, no matter the size, brings relief to a family that has spent decades caring for others and now needs their community to care for them.
