On June 29, the lives of Ashley, Eric, and their entire family changed in an instant. Their 16-year-old son, Paxton Roy, was involved in a devastating head-on collision on Crosstown Boulevard while driving home with two of his close friends. 

Paxton was airlifted from the scene to Regions Hospital, where he remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. While there has been a great deal of information circulating publicly, the crash remains under investigation despite what some of the news articles are posting. 

Out of respect for everyone involved, the family asks that people avoid speculation and allow the investigation to run its course. 

 Today, the focus is not on how this happened. The focus is on Paxton. If you’ve ever met Paxton, you know his smile and unmistakable double dimples could light up any room. At just 16 years old, he has already made an incredible impact on the lives of so many people. Paxton is an honor roll student at Andover High School and a dedicated, talented multi-sport athlete. He competes in varsity soccer, wrestling, and football while also playing on the North United Soccer Club 16U NPL team. Whether on the soccer field, the football field, or the wrestling mat, Paxton gives everything he has and leads by example through his determination, humility, sportsmanship, and quiet leadership. His character extends far beyond athletics. Paxton attends Transform Church, had just started his very first job, and loved spending time volunteering alongside his mom at the senior living community where she works. Whether he was making someone laugh, lending a hand, or simply sitting down for a conversation, he had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved. 

 The overwhelming outpouring of support from classmates, teammates, coaches, teachers, church members, residents, coworkers, friends, neighbors, and even complete strangers is a testament to the kind of young man Paxton is. His impact reaches far beyond the accomplishments listed on paper. It is reflected in the countless lives he has touched through his kindness, compassion, unwavering character, and genuine love for others. 

 Ashley has had to step away from work so she can remain by Paxton’s side while also caring for their two other young children through this devastating time. As they face the long road ahead, they are navigating not only the emotional weight of this tragedy but also the financial burden that comes with it, something no family can ever truly prepare for.
