Paul is first and foremost the loving patriarch of a blended family of seven children and nine grandchildren. He came into their lives and became a full-time father, raising many of them and informally adopting hundreds of other 'lost boys and girls' who passed through their house in Folsom, CA. As a retired pediatric neurologist, Paul was known for his loving care of children with severe developmental disorders, seizures, ADHD, and autism. He was widely recognized for his ability to bond with children, always saying, 'get on the floor if you need to and play with the child to figure out how to help!' His dedication touched countless lives, both in their family and in the community.
Eight years ago, Paul was diagnosed with colon cancer, which forced him into early retirement from the profession he loved. Despite the odds, and thanks to the excellent care from his wife Sherrie and his own determination, Paul has survived and thrived for eight extra years. However, the long battle with cancer and the inability to work have slowly depleted the resources he needs to continue receiving care and to prepare for the inevitable expenses of the funeral. Now, as the cancer has caught up to him, their family is facing significant financial challenges.
Paul was the first to volunteer to pay for dinner and always made a place in their home for people to stay. Now is the time for all of us to show Paul and Sherrie how much their generosity has blessed us, by blessing them in return. Any support you can offer will make a meaningful difference for their family during this difficult time. They are reaching out for help to cover funeral expenses, six months of care, support for my mom as she becomes a widow, and transportation for the funeral and burial.
