Support for Pastor Jim and family
Donation protected
Monday, April 25th, was a life-changing day for the Davis family. Jim was playing with his one-year-old twin grandsons on his daughter's dining room floor; little did he know that he would be down on the floor two hours later, having experienced a significant stroke. He was flown to Mercy One in Des Moines, where he received a thrombectomy to one of his larger cerebral arteries. Jim could not receive the clot-busting medication because of some facial trauma he sustained in a fall the previous week. He has left-sided flaccidity, left visual field cuts and some speech/swallow impairments. Wednesday into Thursday brought a repeat CT scan as he had a decreased level of consciousness. It showed brain swelling, which required surgery- a decompressive craniotomy. Thank the Lord; he is more awake today!
I, Toni (Tami's sister), am posting this page as the Davis family comes to terms with the fact that there is not a fast or easy fix for Jim. Once stable, out of Intensive Care, and ultimately discharged, Jim will need intensive inpatient rehabilitation at a pending location. Both Tami and Jim, of course, have been away from their respective jobs this week, and it's a questionable return to work for them. I hesitate to call it a "job" or "work" for either of them! Without question, Tami and Jim have and will continue to fulfill their called roles of nurse and pastor to the best of their ability. They are the caregivers who have given, supported and comforted others time and time again! It is now our time to help them!
First and foremost, please continue praying for strength, comfort and healing. The prayers are hugely needed and so appreciated! If you can make a monetary gift in any amount, please consider giving. Donations will go straight to Tami and Jim to help cover medical expenses not covered by insurance, time away from work and travel expenses to and from the hospital. Jim, Tami, and family know that we must trust the Lord in this challenging and uncertain time.
God Bless and thank you!
