My partner recently had a simple Bunion Metatarsal Lapiplasty procedure while being in heart failure and having coronary artery disease. While the foot procedure went as planned, he ended up with an infection due to not receiving antibiotics before or during the surgery. The two pictures show his foot at his 72-hour post-operative appointment and then at his 10-day post-op appointment. We had it wrapped the whole time, per the doctor's order, and therefore, we didn't know it had been getting infected until it was unwrapped at his second post-op appointment. He had been complaining of pain, but we thought it was normal surgery pain. Well, it was not.

With his foot infection, we now have to go to Salt Lake City for an echocardiogram, chest X-rays, blood work, EKGs, TE, etc. We know that his heart's ejection fraction is at 37.5%, whereas it shouldn't be any lower than 55% for his condition. He's had two open-heart surgeries already, and he may end up with a third. We're hopeful that it won't turn out that way, but it's hard to tell at this point.

His insurance does cover some of the tests; however, we are more concerned about the traveling we're going to be doing, and hotels, food, along with caring for our animals, and making sure the bills are up-to-date, also. He's had a long journey with his heart problems. Now, having foot surgery is giving him more heart problems; we're giving it to God at this point. Again, we are grateful for anything, and even if you cannot help support, please keep us in your thoughts and prayers
