Support for Parents Facing Cancer and Flood Loss

Donation protected
In 2020 my family suffered the loss of a matriarch. My mother's mother passed over to the ethereal plane and took her place among the stars after spending the last few years of her life on punkup road, waving at passerbys from the front yard and sharing the excitement of bike week.

In 2022 my mother suffered the very first seizure she had ever experienced after exposure to ultra bright lights and after a series of tests and dr visits it was discovered that she had a specific blood cancer called Leukemia.

Shortly after that my father received the diagnosis of cancer as well, which medical professionals would quickly discover to be inoperable. He recently completed chemotherapy in the hopes to slow the spread.

Then, on August 18 2024, Connecticut’s southern valley experienced flooding so bad, entire sections of the main roads were washed away along with multiple access points to their house.

And in the home that has been in my family for 70 years (having been bought by my paternal grandmother who began her life in Oxford england only to one day reside in Oxford Connecticut), the rising waters caused by a debris blockage at the east hill underpass pushed the basement to its water holding capacity.

The basement, full of water, also housed the utility equipment such as the furnace, water pump, hot water tank, and oil tank.

With the advance age of the house and it's utilities, the hot water tank and the oil tank became free floating agents, capable of great damage but thankfully did not damage the overall structural integrity of my parents home despite the oil tanks intrusion through the floor in one of the rooms.

Unfortunately, as flood insurance was optional, my parents, along with a few of their neighbors, opted to cut costs and not pay for something that would cover an event the valley hadn't seen in over half a century.

It is my hope to restore what my parents lost and bring the family home up to code so my parents have a house full of dignity in which to spend their remaining few years left without financially destroying them.

These donations will go from GoFundMe directly to the people doing the restoration.
