Within just two weeks of falling sick, Papa Sialdin sadly passed away after many hospital visits across Nias. He was too unwell to fly to mainland for further treatment, and despite efforts, with the lack of extensive healthcare practises and knowledge of medicine here in Nias, it meant nothing more could be done.
Papa Sialdin was a good man who lived a simple, humble life. He worked incredibly hard, often for free, always lending a hand to others. I remember him helping build mine and Yoza’s home, and he did the same for each of his sons. Day in and day out he laboured in the rice fields under the blazing sun to provide for his family, never complaining, always with a smile.
Always alongside his wife- they were two peas in a pod.
In Nias, it is a deeply rooted tradition to honour and celebrate the life of our loved ones. Funerals are large, often lasting several days, and planned by the family who are still in shock and mourning.
This has been an unexpected and heavy burden for his family—his wife Mama, his daughter Diha, and his sons Yoza, Bedi, Alfred, Fildaus, and Sialdin. They now face significant costs to give him the farewell he truly deserves. The family must pay off the fees by this Sunday.
We kindly ask for your support. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help ease this sudden financial strain and honour Papa Sialdin’s memory in the way he deserves.
Thankyou.
