Last night I picked up my best friend from the airport after she rushed home because her dad, lovingly known as Papa Nick, had been taken to the hospital and placed on hospice with very little time left.

We spent the night together talking, laughing, sharing memories, and holding onto hope. Today, after spending the day together, Papa Nick peacefully took his final breath.

As her family begins navigating this unimaginable loss, they are now faced with the unexpected cost of cremation and final arrangements. During a time when they should be focused on grieving and being together, they’re also worrying about the financial burden that comes with saying goodbye.
