My name is Jessica Arnold. I live with my husband, Brad, and our sweet 19 month-old toddler. We are currently expecting twin boys in June 2026-a blessing we are so excited to welcome into our family.
But our joy has been met with heartbreaking news.
One of our unborn sons has been diagnosed in utero with a rare and serious congenital heart defect called tricuspid atresia. This means one of the critical valves in his tiny heart has not developed properly. Because of this, his heart will not be able to pump blood the way it should. From the moment he enters this world, he will face multiple major surgeries simply to survive.
Instead of dreaming about matching outfits and bringing two healthy babies home, we are preparing for operating rooms, NICU stays, and the terrifying uncertainty of open-heart surgeries on our newborn son.
To give him the best chance at life, I will need to temporarily relocate too Edmonton for the delivery and for the surgeries that will follow. I will be away from home for two months or longer with our newborn twins — and our toddler. During this time, Brad will most likely have to remain at home to continue working so we can try to keep up with our mortgage and regular household expenses.
The thought of being separated during one of the most fragile, emotional seasons of our lives is devastating. No parent imagines facing life-saving heart surgery for their newborn alone. No father imagines missing those first precious weeks because he has to work to keep the lights on. Yet this may be the only way we can stay financially afloat.
We are asking for help to ease this crushing financial strain so we can focus on what matters most — being present for both of our babies, caring for our toddler, and advocating fiercely for our son as he fights for every heartbeat.
Funds raised will help cover:
• Travel, lodging, and living expenses while in Edmonton
• Allowing Brad to join us during surgery and critical recovery periods
• Mortgage and household expenses at home
• Childcare while attending hospital appointments
• Medical-related costs not fully covered
Our greatest hope is simple: to keep our family together as much as possible while giving our son the lifesaving care he desperately needs.
This journey feels overwhelming and uncertain, but we are holding onto faith, love, and the kindness of those around us. Every donation, every share, every prayer, and every message of encouragement reminds us that we are not alone.
Thank you for helping our family stay together. Thank you for supporting our son as he prepares to fight for his life before he has even taken his first breath.
With all our love and gratitude,
Jessica Arnold
