This past weekend, our family was celebrating my son's birthday with a river trip out of state when the unexpected happened. My son experienced three unprovoked tonic clonic seizures, each coming without any warning. It was a terrifying experience for all of us, and we had to act quickly to get him the care he needed. He was transferred by ambulance from Arizona back to California so he could begin neurological testing and receive specialized care.
Our son is smart, outgoing, funny, and kind. He just started playing baseball for the first time this year, and it has brought him so much joy. Unfortunately, this new medical scare is going to limit his activities until we can receive answers and ensure his safety.
As you can imagine, this has brought a wave of unexpected expenses. We are now facing large hospital bills from two different ER visits, the cost of ambulance transportation across state lines, and the expenses for CT scans, EEG, and MRI testing. On top of that, we are preparing for more neurological testing and the financial strain of unpaid time off work so we can be by our son's side during his recovery and treatment.
We never expected to be in a position where we would need to ask for financial support, and being vulnerable in this way is difficult for us. We are reaching out to our community for help during this difficult time. With Jesse being a barber, he doesn’t have the ability to take PTO or access to any other financial support. Any support you can offer will go directly toward my son's medical care and our family's immediate needs. Thank you in advance for your kindness, generosity, and especially for your prayers for healing and answers as we navigate this journey.
