Support for our Short Student Film "Endings and beginnings"

Hello and welcome to our campaign! We are Master’s Film students from the University of South Wales, looking to raise funds for our short student film by 5 March, 2025 (extended).

Title of the film:

“Endings and beginnings” (Drama/Comedy)

Synopsis:

Twins Suzy and Simon reunite and reflect on their father’s life after his funeral. They plan to move forward together as they contemplate life without their parents, until fate intervenes, and Suzy’s life takes an unexpected turn from orphan to expectant mother.

Current progress:

With our script already developed, we are swiftly moving towards the pre-production stage, involving location scouting, casting, developing visual boards, and more! Additionally, we are in discussions about film festival options and collaborations with talented music composers.

Our team is extremely confident and excited about making this project come to life – with its deep and meaningful message within, we are confident that our film will do well in the market and touch people’s hearts.

How the funds will help us:

With your support, these funds will not just be going towards film production aspects, such as location costs and props, but also towards taking proper care of our cast and crew. This means providing everyone with delicious catering and covering transportation costs. And ultimately, your support will help us to potentially distribute our story to film festivals!

Producer

Hi! I’m Hannah Joyce Dante, studying MA Film (Production Management) at USW. With 3 years of experience in creative production, I’m looking to step into the larger film industry and tell impactful stories. As a producer, I enjoy working behind the scenes to ensure everyone gets what they need to make their visions a reality. I strive to be an industry leader capable of balancing not just creativity and practicality, but providing proper care for the cast, crew, and everyone in-between.

Hello, my name is Fatima Isse. I am currently studying MA Film (Directing) at the University of South Wales. I am an independent filmmaker from North London. I am very passionate about storytelling and filmmaking. As a filmmaker, I enjoy collaborating with talented filmmakers, actors, and crew members to create engaging and original stories. I aim to make films that reflect diverse perspectives and inspire audiences.

Hi, I’m Jamie Grigg, I’m currently doing a masters degree in cinematography. I have a passion for creating and watching films

Writer

I am Karen Chadwick and currently studying a MA in Film Screenwriting at USW. I have a background in Social Work and Housing, and I am keen to bring stories which reflect real life onto the screen. I like to focus on characters with strengths as well as weaknesses and tell stories with hope and humour at the heart.

Editor

Heya, my name’s Hollie Dodman and I’m currently working towards an MA Film Editing degree at the University of South Wales in Cardiff. My biggest goal is to help build and construct an engaging story for your eyeballs, which this project aims to achieve.

Why we want this film made:

This film holds various special meanings for each one of us.

Our producer hopes to share a meaningful, yet fun experience with not just the cast and crew, but our audience. Our director wishes that this story, like other stories she creates, would resonate with many people. Our writer is excited to share the characters she’s created, now come to life! Our cinematographer believes that the themes in this story would speak out to others, just like it did to him. Our editor believes her art would empower the crew’s storytelling and be understood by our audience.

Overall, with this film, our team hopes that the story’s emotions are carried through and that the narrative sparks meaningful conversations.
