Support for Our Mom's Hospice Care
Donation protected
Hi friends,
This is one of those moments I never imagined having to write about.
Our mom was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. It’s spread to her bones, spine, cervix, stomach, and lungs. She’s now home under hospice care, and the focus is on making her as comfortable as we can, day by day.
She’s the heart of our family. She’s been married to our dad for over 30 years—even if they’ve had their moments, there’s no denying how much he loves her. Together, they raised four of us—April, Phillip, me (Roger), and Patrick—and somehow survived the chaos of doing that with humor, stubbornness, and love.
Mom spent years working as a paraeducator aide on the buses for a local school district. She had such a gift for connecting with kids who needed a little extra patience and care. That was just who she was—someone who gave her time and energy to others, even when she didn’t have much left to give.
Right now, things are hard. Hospice is helping with some of the care, but there are medical and household costs that fall outside what’s covered. We’re trying to keep up with everything—especially the mortgage—so she can stay in her home, surrounded by the people who love her most.
If you’re able to contribute, it would mean more than I can say. And even if you can’t donate, just sharing this helps in a big way.
Thank you for reading, and for being part of our support system during this time.
