Support for our friend Joan Mejia

Hi All,

I am a friend of Joan and David’s, Melissa and I am reaching out on behalf of some of Joan’s closest friends. All money raised here will go directly to Joan and David to help cover any associated costs from this time. We figured this could reach them most effectively.

Up until 5 days ago, things were looking bright for Joan and David having baby Mariana home finally. Unfortunately, Joan presented herself with shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, difficulty sleeping, and pain in her abdomen. After multiple hospital visits, she has been now diagnosed with Postpartum Cardiomyopathy and Cholecystitis. The cardiologist said her heart is weak and working at 10%. She has been on many medications to drain excess fluid in her lungs and around her heart.

As you can imagine this is a shock to the entire family. However, with the help of the doctors, experts, and our prayers she may get discharged tomorrow, Monday! It’s going to be a long road to recovery but Joan is strong and fearless so we know she will pull through this.

Joan and David are super private and never expect anything from anyone. Nonetheless this is a big hit to the three of them and as their family and friends, from afar, we can show up for them during this hard time.
