Update:

After I spoke with Dr Floyd about wanting to do the surgery. He referred me back to Dr Crouch who did my appendectomy.

I saw Dr Crouch on September 10th he recommended to not do surgery since the tumor was small.

So, with Dr Floyd saying surgery is an option and Dr Crouch recommendation. we went to get a second opinion.

Today, October 7th, we saw a Dr at siteman cancer center that specializes in neuroendocrine tumors. We spoke to the dr and went over everything. He did not recommend surgery and to do the yearly scans, since the tumor is small.

This is the game plan for now. I am happy surgery is not needed at this time. I am glad I got a second opinion.

In the past six months, my family has faced a series of unexpected and overwhelming challenges. My husband was exposed to pepper spray at work, which led to chemical pneumonia. Although his claim was initially accepted, it was later denied, and we were required to pay back the money he received. This resulted in a significant reduction in his paychecks, and as a stay-at-home mom, he is our only source of income. The financial strain has been intense, forcing us to take out loans just to keep up with basic expenses. My husband has had to switch to a later shift, which means less time with me and our seven-year-old twin boys, and he works as much overtime as possible, but we are still struggling to make ends meet.

On top of this, I had an emergency appendectomy in June. The pathology report revealed a tumor on my appendix the tumor is a PT3 of the appendix, and after several follow-up tests and consultations, my doctor recommended surgery as an option due to the risk of remaining cancer cells. I have decided to move forward with this surgery. The surgery is called right hemicolectomy its a surgery to remove the right side of the colon, including the cecum, ascending colon, and a section of the transverse colon, it removes the appendix as well but is already removed , as it is attached to the ascending colon. which will require a recovery period of six to twelve weeks. During this time, my husband will need to take some time off to care for me and our boys. He would like to be off for at least the first two weeks after surgery to be able to care for me while im healing, but he will not receive any pay while on leave. This has left us deeply worried about how we will cover medical bills, household expenses, and provide stability for our children during my recovery.
