Our lives changed overnight. One day my husband was healthy, and the next he woke up with sudden facial paralysis and severe muscle weakness. He was rushed to the hospital and has since been diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) — a rare autoimmune disorder where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks the nerves. Only about 1 in 100,000 people are diagnosed with GBS each year. It progresses quickly, leading to paralysis, difficulty walking, and sometimes even breathing problems. Recovery often takes weeks to months of intensive treatment, therapy, and rehabilitation.
Right now, he is still in the hospital undergoing treatment, and will ultimately be sent to a rehabilitation center so he can rebuild his strength to stand, walk, and lift. Depending how treatment/rehab go, we don’t know how long he will be out of work.
We recently bought a new home, we have a baby in daycare, 2 dogs, and now we’re also facing medical bills on top of everyday living expenses.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Medical costs and rehabilitation
• Daycare expenses so I can balance caring for our baby and supporting my husband
• Household bills while he is unable to work
This diagnosis turned our world upside down in an instant, but with your support, we hope to ease some of the financial burden so we can focus on his recovery and being there for our baby boy.
Any donation, no matter the size, means the world to us. Even if you cannot donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others. From the bottom of our hearts — thank you for your love, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
