Sometimes life changes in a matter of seconds. On Monday, September 21st, my father was on his way home when his life was suddenly taken from us in a fatal highway car accident.

This loss is too huge and abrupt for us to bear. One moment, I was on the phone with him, and the next, we were told to come identify him. My mother and I are still struggling to accept that our conversation 25 minutes prior with him would become the last time we could hear his voice.

If you knew my father, you probably knew that he had a much bigger heart than he sometimes showed. He was funny, stubborn, caring, outspoken, and imperfect, but he loved his family deeply. He tried to help people whenever he could, whether that meant helping family, supporting others through donations, or simply lending a hand. He was simply himself, and that is what made him special to the people who knew him.

My father and mother had built their life in this beautiful town of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and had been by each other's side for 35 years. They were ALWAYS together. My father was supposed to come home that day. He was supposed to grow old with my mother. Instead, my mother is suddenly facing an uncertain future without the love of her life.

My parents have always been the kind of people who did not want to bother anyone with their matters. My mother especially would rather fight through her own battles than burden others. I have always respected her courage, but this time, I do not want her to go through that. I do not want her to fight this alone. That is why I created this fundraiser on her behalf.

As her son, I would want to give her some financial breathing room during this unexpected and devastating loss. I want her to be able to take the time she needs to grieve without constantly worrying about financial matters. I know no amount of money could bring my father back, but this is the least I could do.

Any donation, no matter the amount, will help our family with the immediate expenses we are now facing, including funeral and memorial costs, legal fees, insurance-related expenses, lost income, and other unexpected costs. My hope is to relieve some of the pressure so my mother can have some stability and strength while she begins to navigate a new path in life that she has no choice but to walk forward on. Most importantly, I want her to feel loved and know that she is not by herself on this journey of life.

Funeral Information:

We will be holding my father's funeral on Thursday, October 1st, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The service will be held for family and friends as we come together to remember his life, honor his memories, and say our final goodbyes.
