My husband is a roofer, and recently he suffered a terrible accident at work. He slipped off a ladder and fell, dislocating his left ankle and shattering his right leg—including his tibia, fibula plateau, and patella. He is the main contributor for our family, and we also have two small children at home. He currently has an external fixator on his leg until the swelling goes down and covered in fracture blisters, and he will need a full knee replacement. He is still in the hospital, which is far from our home since the ambulance took him to the closest trauma center which is Santa ana, and the distance has made everything even harder for our family.
Because of his injuries, my husband cannot work, and I am also missing work due to the constant travel to be with him. I’m spending a significant amount each week just on fuel to drive back and forth to the hospital, since it’s so far from home. The financial strain is overwhelming, especially since he does not have medical insurance. We are trying to get him relocated closer to home, but the costs keep adding up while we wait for things to improve.
We are reaching out for help to cover travel expenses, lost income, medical supplies, and medical bills that aren't covered. Any support means the world to us as we try to get through this difficult time.
