We are a Rocky Point family facing a very difficult situation, and we are asking for help while doing everything we can to protect our child’s privacy and dignity.

Our 13-year-old daughter with autism has been struggling with severe mental health challenges. Over the past year, she has been hospitalized seven times, and her doctors have determined that she now needs a higher level of care than what is available locally.

We initially pursued a residential treatment program much closer to home, but our insurance denied coverage for that placement. After continuing to work with her treatment team to find an option that would be approved and able to meet her needs, we were able to secure a spot in a specialized residential treatment program in Minnesota.

To protect her privacy, we are keeping identifying details limited. However, we want to be transparent about the need. Even with insurance, the insurance deductible, flights, and lodging required for us to safely bring her to the program and return to pick her up will total approximately $10,000.

As parents, we will do anything to help our child get the care she needs. These expenses are beyond what we can manage alone, and we are asking our community for help.
