Twenty years ago, our dad, Rick, was given a diagnosis that changed everything — glioblastoma. In September of 2006, he was told he likely had 6–13 months to live.
But if you know Rick, you know he doesn’t follow timelines.
He fought.
He endured surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.
He pushed through when things were unimaginably hard.
And somehow — against all odds — he lived.
For 20 years, he has been our miracle.
Rick is 61 now. He’s a lifelong logger — one of the hardest working men you’ll ever meet. He’s the kind of person who shows up early, stays late, and never complains. He’s the dad who teaches by example, the friend who would give you the shirt off his back, and the partner who has shared 25 wonderful years with Jami.
On February 14, 2026, our world shifted again. Rick was re-diagnosed.
Same tumor location. Same terrifying words.
It was shocking. It was devastating. And yet — here we are again.
He has already undergone surgery on February 19, and he is taking recovery seriously. He’s working hard with physical therapy and occupational therapy. He is healing with the same determination that carried him through this once before.
Twenty years ago, he had youth and stamina on his side. And while today, he is just as strong, we are realistic to the fact that maybe bulldozing his way through treatment while cutting timber full time, might not be the ticket. This will be a fight and he is ready to take it head on, but we want to help in any way we can.
One of the hardest parts for him has been coming to terms with asking for help. Rick has always been the provider. The worker. The one who handles it.
But treatment means surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, appointments, recovery — and time away from work. The financial stress on top of the physical and emotional toll is heavy.
That’s why we’re starting this fundraiser.
We want finances to be one less thing Rick has to worry about while he focuses on healing. We want him focused on recovery, on treatment, on spending time with Jami and with us — his three kids: Stephanie, Troy, and Anthony.
Rick was a miracle once.
And we believe whole heartedly that he will be again.
If you’re able to donate, share, or simply send encouragement, it means more than we can put into words. Thank you for standing with our family as Rick steps back into the ring — stronger in spirit than ever.
