Support for Our Dad’s Chordoma Recovery

This is coming from a hard and vulnerable place. Those who know my family know we don’t often ask for help. However, many people have reached out asking how they can support us and suggested creating a GoFundMe to help my dad during this incredibly difficult time.

As some of you may know, my dad was diagnosed with Chordoma, a rare and slow-growing cancer that affects approximately 1 in 1 million people each year. It typically forms along the spine or at the base of the skull and often requires complex, specialized treatment. His was in the tailbone area.

In August, my dad privately underwent radiation therapy and pushed through it with strength and determination. In October—around my parents’ anniversary—he had major surgery. Since then, he has remained in the hospital. His journey has included multiple procedures, far more than we ever expected, including transfers to rehab and then back to the hospital due to unexpected complications. There have been several difficult and unforeseen turns along the way.

During this time, I was able to connect my dad with the Chordoma Foundation and with others who have gone through very similar diagnoses and surgeries. Being able to speak with someone who truly understands this experience gave my parents hope. While every recovery is different, we know this is the hardest part, and we remain hopeful that healing will come with time.

So many people have reached out with prayers, love, and encouragement. My dad is a community leader who has always shown up for others, and now he is facing one of the greatest challenges of his life. He was the primary income provider for our household, and while he is unable to work, we are doing everything we can to find resources to help my parents stay afloat.

Funds raised will go toward hospital bills, ongoing medical care, and any necessary medical equipment to support his recovery once he is able to return home.

Please do not feel obligated to donate. We are deeply grateful for every message, prayer, share, and kind thought. Thank you for supporting my dad and our family during this time—we truly feel the love.
