Hi my name is Kayla and my sister is Kelsey and our family is going through one of the most frightening moments..

A few nights ago, our dad suffered a heart attack.. though at the time, we didn't know that's what was happening. He was extremely short of breath and couldn't breathe properly, but he pushed through the night without realizing the severity of it.

Early the next morning, Kelsey took him to the emergency room. Shortly after, we were told he had a heart attack and needed to be transported by LifeFlight to Halifax for urgent care. Since then, we've been away from home, staying close to the hospital while doctors run tests and try to determine the full extent of the damage.

We've now learned that our dad needs heart surgery to repair or replace his aortic valve. The exact details won't be known until further ultrasounds and surgery, but we do know this is serious and life changing. Anyone who knows our dad - Fred Smith KNOWS how hard this big change will be on him. He is one of the hardest workers still working in forestry at age 65!

As we navigate this unexpected medical emergency, the costs are adding up quickly ha... 'y to travel between New Glasaow and Halifax. hotel stays, time away from work, and other emergency expenses on top of home bills.

My father is the only provider and at this time and he's unable to work due to this emergency. We are asking for help to ease some of the financial stress during this incredibly difficult time so we can focus on what matters most my dad's health and recovery.
