Heartfelt Update on Mum Ylonde

Dear friends and community, ❤️

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beautiful mum, Ylonde, has worsened more quickly than we anticipated.

In the space of a week and especially over the course of the last 24 hours her health has deteriorated at an unimaginable rate and has shocked us all.

Sadly, pursuing an alternative treatment route is no longer an option. All we can do now is make her comfortable and hope that she isn’t in pain for much longer.

The rapid decline in Mum’s health over the past week has been alarming, and we are bracing ourselves for the unthinkable.

As a family, we are overwhelmed by the well-wishes, generosity, stories, flowers, and offers of help we have received in such a short time. This outpouring of support is a testament to the love this town and its people have for Mum, and the joy she brought to everyone.

We have decided that the funds raised will go towards a local cause or charity to be discussed. This is something we feel she would want.

Our beloved mother, Ylonde, has recently received a devastating diagnosis: Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, along with secondary cancer in her bowel and liver.

The doctors have informed her that chemotherapy may only extend her life by a few months, forcing her to weigh the benefits of treatment against the quality of the time she has left.

This heart-wrenching news came on Thursday, June 20th, and has left her unable to attend the upcoming wedding of her youngest son, Grant, to Demi—an event our entire family was eagerly anticipating after years of hardship.

Ylonde has always been the epitome of strength and resilience. In 2003, she bravely fought and overcame cancer, showing us all her incredible willpower. Even in recent weeks, she was still working and enjoying her long hikes, exemplifying her enduring spirit and love for life.

Her son's, Dale, Liam and Grant along with close family have discussed with her options going forward and our Wonderful mother is up for the fight!

We are now looking to raise funds for alternative treatments that may offer her a better quality of life during this difficult time and possibly extend what unknown time we have left.

These funds will not only help alleviate the financial pressures on our family but also go towards any other needs that arise. Your support will enable Ylonde to explore every possible avenue for treatment, providing her with the comfort and care she deserves.
