We are the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl born in truly extraordinary circumstances. On a winter morning during a severe snowstorm, our daughter came into the world in a tractor-trailer on the side of the road in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania — an incredible story that was shared in the news.
Our baby was born at 36 weeks and, though she fought hard from her very first breath, she has faced serious medical challenges that have led to an extended stay in the NICU.
Her Medical Condition
Shortly after birth, she was diagnosed with:
• Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) — a condition caused by decreased oxygen to her brain at birth, requiring specialized monitoring and care.
• Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn — a serious lung condition that makes breathing difficult and requires continuous respiratory support.
• Respiratory Failure of the Newborn — meaning she needs assisted breathing as her lungs continue to develop.
Because she was born in a breech position and needed to be resuscitated by medics when they arrived at the scene, her first moments of life were extremely intense — and the effects of that emergency are part of why she remains in critical care.
Why We Need Your Help
Our daughter’s journey is only beginning, and the road ahead includes ongoing medical care, specialist appointments, therapies, and support we never imagined we’d need this soon.
Medical bills are already mounting — from the NICU stay to respiratory support — and we are asking for help to give our daughter the care she deserves.
