Dear Ones,

 

Our beloved Oshen is on the precipice of losing/keeping :)! their home. Let's draw our resources together now.

 

In the Bay Area of California, where the cost of housing is challenge enough, Oshen inherited a relentless list of strings-attached and legal-loopholes-to-jump-through in order to be able to stay in the house that their mother willed to them before transitioning.

 

First, there was a battle to get administrative rights. Next, there was a legal challenge by someone close to Oshen who fought to have the house willed to them instead. Now, there is a date when the bank has promised it will foreclose and take the house unless $5,000 in arrears is paid before October 4.

 

October 4! This gathering of folks can get $5k together before then AND I’d like us to generate another $25,000 to fully support Oshen through this troubling and (re-)traumatizing experience.

 

Resources we gather beyond our immediate $5k will cover childcare for Oshen’s dear baby while they find employment, as well as childcare after so that Oshen can work.

 

If we can generate six months of mortgage payments and childcare funds, plus money for food and phone/connectivity, Oshen will be best supported to care for themselves and their child through this time.

 

Our friend will be homeless if this bill is not paid—so we’re paying it.

 

Let’s be sure that Oshen also feels our support as they continue to pass through narrow-as-hell hoops to satisfy a mortgage lender and courts that are poised to take what does not belong to them.

 

Now is a wonderful opportunity for all of us, all of us, to offer our love and care in this way. Oshen has come through so much already and this collective has the capacity to gather what they need to brave what life is at this moment.
