Support for Oriah, Jasmine & Dylan after accident
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Allea and at 3 am two nights ago I got a call no one ever wants to receive… My brother was calling to tell me that him, his girlfriend and a friend of theirs had been in a terrible accident…
It was Saturday night and my baby brother Dylan, his girlfriend Oriah and their friend Jasmine were at a concert in Bend seeing Bon Iver. They had a beautiful night together at the show and decided to go to a bar in Bend afterwards to keep the magic of the evening going a little while longer.
At the end of the night they did what every other responsible adult does and ordered a Lyft to take them home. That’s when the unimaginable happened..
Here is Dylan’s account of the accident:
On the evening of August 12th my girlfriend Oriah, our friend Jasmine and I all shared a Lyft home from a bar in Bend. Our driver was a 77 year old man and had his dog in the car. We all sat in the back seat of the car; I was on the left, Jasmine was on the right and Oriah was in the middle seat.
As our driver pulled onto the on ramp of the highway I saw another car about 1000 yards ahead of us, stopped in the middle of the road with their hazard lights on. Our driver must not have seen them or something because he didn't attempt to stop until we were about 10 feet away. When he finally slammed on the brakes it was too late and we smashed into the car in front of us.
When we crashed Oriah flew through the windshield, breaking the glass with her head. When I came to she was groaning and stuck halfway through the windshield of the car. The driver had already gotten out and Jasmine was confused, asking me what had happened.
Very carefully I helped Oriah back into the car and wrapped my shirt around her head because it was bleeding so badly. Thankfully the ambulances got there quickly and got everyone to the hospital. We spent the rest of the night in the hospital where Oriah was triaged and tests were taken to determine the extent of her injuries.
Miraculously she had no broken bones but her eye is fully swollen shut, she has a severe concussion, neck trauma and had multiple lacerations to her face. She had to have stitches on her cheek, eyelid, and eyebrow, as well as 10 staples in her head. Jasmine has 3 broken ribs and a severe concussion, as well as bad swelling to her face and neck trauma. Thankfully I made it out scratch free other than some whiplash and back pain, but I will definitely be scarred for the rest of my life.
We aren’t the type of people to ask for handouts but Oriah and Jasmine won’t be able to go back to work for a long time (at least 2-3 months) and will most likely have to find new jobs when they do. I will be taking at least a week off work to stay home and take care of Oriah.
Thankfully we all have good health insurance that should cover everything from the initial hospital trip but there will definitely be a lot more medical appointments to come. Oriah needs to get another special kind of MRI to check for brain damage that won’t be covered by her insurance and we’ll all need lots of chiropractic work.
We appreciate anything anyone can donate during this time and have so so much love and gratitude for all our friends and family and everyone who has reached out so far with kind words of love and generosity. It’s going to be a long healing process but we are all just so thankful to be alive.

From Allea:
Dylan and Oriah just moved to Bend two months ago to start a new chapter in their lives together. They both quickly found jobs and have been working so hard towards their goals. I’ve been incredibly proud of them both as they’ve been building a life in a brand new city. This accident has ripped into their new routines which makes it that much more difficult.
As Dylan said, these funds will be used to help support Jasmine and Oriah with bills and lost wages while they face the long road to recovery. Any additional donations will be put towards their medical bills that insurance won’t cover.
If you are able please consider donating to help these sweet ones focus on their rest and healing without any extra stress. Any small amount makes a difference! If you aren’t able to donate sharing this page helps just as much!
Thank you all so much and hug your loved ones a little extra tight.
