Support for Officer Nick Hamaker and family

Nick Hamaker has been a Colorado Springs Police Officer for 4 ½ years. On Tuesday evening, while on duty and on his way to a call, he was involved in a horrific accident. Nick was hit head-on by an impaired driver and was sent to the hospital with serious injuries. He has a fractured neck/spine and a shattered foot and ankle. He has a long road to recovery and will likely not be able to return to work this year. He is looking at surgery on his foot when the swelling goes down; at this point, the surgeon doesn’t even know how he will fix it.

Nick is worried about bills and providing for his wonderful family. Nick has a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters that he lives everyday for. Nick is an incredible man! He is an amazing husband, father, son, brother, etc., and he lives to serve and protect everyone in his community. Before working for the police department, Nick was a correctional officer but only after serving our country in the Army. He fought in Iraq, and when he got out of the military, he knew that he wanted to continue to serve and protect, which is why he became a police officer.

Please help this amazing family out with expenses not covered by workman's comp as it is unknown when or if he will be able to fully return to work.
