On Monday, June 23, 2025, the Hempstead Police Department suffered a loss of one of our own.

Officer Jacob Lewis passed away suddenly at his home at around 5:30 pm. Jacob had been a member of the Hempstead Police Department family for the past 4 years. He was a father, husband, son, brother, and a huge asset and brother to the department. He will be missed by all and loved by many.
