Atlanta Police Officer Robert “Bobby” Golden has been seriously injured in the line of duty. On 12/5/22, he was attempting to detain a suspect who was involved in a dispute. As the suspect fled into the middle of the street while actively resisting arrest, both the suspect and Officer Golden were struck by a suspected drunk driver. Officer Golden’s injuries are extensive and he has already undergone one surgery. Officer Golden is in stable condition, however, the road to recovery is expected to be substantial.
Officer Golden is married and has three children at home. He became a police officer to see improvement in the community he serves. His dedication in this endeavor is seen in how he treats every citizen he comes in contact with throughout Southeast Atlanta (Zone 3). Whether it’s a lady needing money to restore a flat tire, or a teen who just needs someone to take the time to give them encouragement toward a positive goal. There is not a moment Officer Golden has ever hesitated to back up his fellow officers despite the perils of the situation.
