With deep love and heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved Ofelia Gutiérrez-Hernández, who went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the age of 82. She passed peacefully in her home in Madison, surrounded by the love and care of her devoted family.

Ofelia was born on November 20, 1943, in Tlaxcalilla, Hidalgo, to Heriberto Gutiérrez and Gerarda Hernández. On July 2, 1962, she married the love of her life, Ángel Paiz-Ángeles. Together, they built a beautiful family rooted in love, faith, resilience, and unity. She was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a deeply cherished grandmother and great-grandmother.

Ofelia found joy in life’s simple but meaningful moments—cooking for her family, watching sunsets, admiring flowers, and spending time with her loved ones. She loved sopes, cherished the color pink, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, reflected in her love for Christian music and mariachi, especially her favorite song, “Casa de Alfarero.”

She was known for her warm heart, contagious laughter, and the way she made everyone feel at home. Anyone who visited her was welcomed with open arms, a kind smile, and often something to eat. Her love was constant and intentional—expressed in every prayer, every embrace, and every “Te amo” she shared at the end of every conversation.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ángel; her children, Ángel Jr., Marcela, Eleuterio, María, and Óscar; 22 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and her siblings. She is reunited in eternal peace with her parents, her son Jaime and daughter-in-law Guadalupe, and her brothers Francisco and José.

While her passing leaves an immense void in our hearts, her legacy of love, faith, humility, and family will live on in all of us.

We are asking for support during this difficult time to help cover funeral and memorial expenses. Any contribution, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to give, we kindly ask that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers and share this page with others.

Thank you for your love, support, and generosity as we honor and celebrate the beautiful life of Ofelia.
