With heavy hearts, I’m creating this GoFundMe to support my coworker, Grandmother, and her family as they endure an unimaginable tragedy and the painful days that follow.
This fundraiser is meant to help ease the everyday life expenses that can pile up during a grieving period, when a family is trying to process shock, heartbreak, and the reality of moving forward. When grief hits, life does not pause. Bills still arrive. Time off work may be needed. Travel, childcare, meals, and countless unexpected costs can stack up fast, especially when a family is simply trying to make it through the day.
According to the news report, 34-year-old Nancy Barker (married name Bacon) and her 4-year-old daughter, Eden Ava Barker Wickramarachchi, were shot and killed inside their Ocala condominium. Police identified Nancy’s estranged ex-husband, 38-year-old Ralph Bacon, as the suspect, and the report states he was tracked into Georgia, where authorities say he took his own life. The article also notes the couple divorced in 2016 and had an on-and-off relationship, and that Eden was not his biological child.
Right now, Grandmother and the family need space to grieve without the added strain of financial pressure. This is not about one expense, it’s about helping the family breathe while they mourn, support one another, and handle what comes next.
If you’re able to donate, thank you. If you can’t, sharing this fundraiser is just as meaningful. Every act of support helps remind this family they are not alone.
