We’re reaching out to our community for support to cover the costs of medical and memorial expenses for our beloved aunt/sister/mother, Ms. Oanh Hung. Your generosity would help ease these expenses as we grieve for her, especially since she was a single mother, and her only son, Sunny, has been feeling the anxiety of financial burdens throughout this emotionally taxing time.

Oanh Hung was a skilled hairstylist, a resilient single mother to her only son (Sunny), and a devoted caretaker, aunt, and sister to her nieces and family— after experiencing severe hip pains that affected her work and daily mobility, Oanh was given the worst case scenario and was officially diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in April 2024. She began a rigorous journey of chemotherapy to help combat the condition, but her treatments were of little help, however— in February, Oanh was informed by physicians that the cancer had spread to her lungs, kidney, liver. On May 7th, 2025, she was admitted to the hospital due to difficulty in breathing.

In the subsequent days, our family was informed that the cancer had spread to 90% of both her lungs, and she could no longer breathe on her own— over the next 48 hours, family and friends and her temple community (she volunteered at Tu Quang Buddhist Temple) visited and prayed for her, and on Saturday morning, May 10th, 2025, Ms. Oanh Hung passed away.

Ms. Oanh Hung was always working as a single mom to provide for her only son, Sunny, and acted as a guardian and second parent to her two nieces. If she wasn’t working or spending time with her family, she was volunteering in her community, cooking delicious vegetarian food! The legacy that she left behind— to everyone who knew and loved her— was to live kindly to others and to live truly to oneself. While she was a dedicated and hardworking hairstylist, all of her medical expenses have had to be paid out of pocket, and we hope this gofundme will help with Sunny’s financial burdens in her funeral and remaining expenses.
