2020 was a challenging year for families all around the world and tragically ours was no different. Nina Wojtalewicz-Dynakowska, our sister, daughter, wife, and mother of Rozalia (4) Tobias (2) ended the year with a devasting diagnosis… inoperable Stage 3 Breast Cancer (considered Terminal in Poland).
The fear of getting sick from COVID was nothing compared to the reality of a terminal diagnosis.
This tragedy started months earlier with the loss of her unborn child. Nina and husband Maciek were thrilled to welcome a third child to their family. A second boy was on his way and they could not be happier for their family to grow. In July 2020, at 19 weeks Nina suffered a miscarriage, and their beautiful baby August was delivered stillborn…an unbearable loss. The next few months were spent honoring his short life while processing the terrible grief that fell upon their small family.
Towards the end of 2020, just as the family was becoming stronger, Nina felt there was something just not right in her body. After many doctor’s visits and second opinions, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 Breast Cancer. Nina was prescribed aggressive chemotherapy immediately to start attacking this highly invasive form of cancer while further tests were completed. The “Red Devil” famously known as one of the most powerful and punishing drugs would be the first order in Nina’s battle with cancer. She also faced the grim reality that she would need to have both breasts removed.
The months of December and January were a rollercoaster of hope and despair. Although chemo was destroying some of the cancer cells, it was discovered that the Cancer was not only in the breast and lymph nodes but had traveled distant to her bones, lungs, and most likely her liver. Surgery was immediately off the table and the goal now is to find treatment that will extend her life while enhancing the quality of her living.
After living over 20+ years of her young life in the US, she decided to make a big change and move to Poland (our parents’ native country) to make a change in her life. Over the last 10+ years, Nina has become a wife and mother while finishing her college degree and starting a remarkably successful business teaching English in Poland. But now she faces the most difficult challenge of fighting for her life and saving the families future.
There are so many unknowns today, but this is a family who is now struggling financially and must put all their resources into surviving cancer and moving forward with life.
Nina and Maciek were recently planning on moving their beautiful family to their very own property. With the cancer diagnosis, this has now become an impossibility and are now forced by circumstance to live as a family of four in a studio apartment due to the high cost and uncertainty of cancer treatment.
Our family asks you to keep Nina in your prayers, but many have asked how to contribute. Funds raised will go towards medical bills and supporting the family through the devastating loss of income.
Thank you for helping Nina battle this cancer while fighting for the family to remain strong as they make this journey together.
Every generous donation is one dollar closer to saving our dear Nina’s life.
Whether you can contribute or not, we ask for a simple share of this page.
And always, please keep Nina and her family in your prayers, thoughts, and intentions.
Many blessings to you and your family from Nina’s Sister, Sylwia and Brother in Law, Brandon as well as Nina’s Parents (Mom Danuta and Dad George).
